A smoky 2018 race!

The night before was calm, warm and clear. The day of the race was thick smoke and strong winds, requiring shortened courses. Lots of capsizing, but no injuries. Here’s hoping for a better 2019 on August 17th.

2017 – A Race Day of Entertainment

The 2017 Ogopogo Bathtub Race featured some great races and some unexpected results. This year proved the fastest boats might not win! A good crowd watched the action on the new race course, which saw boats neck and neck every few minutes. The water was a little choppy, so skippers collected a few bruises along the way, and struggled to …

2016 – A Hot Race Day

August 20, 2016 was a hot one at Powell Beach in more ways than one. Beautiful sandy beach and lots of race action, including some speedsters from Nanaimo. Our fundraising target was exceeded, and after a winter hiatus, we’ll be planning for August 19, 2017!

Fund Raising Target Exceeded!

Today, Summerland Yacht Club presented the South Okanagan-Similkameen Medical Foundation with a cheque for $18,444.00, exceeding our goal of $15,000.00. Many thanks to the participants, sponsors and volunteers that made the Ogopogo Bathtub Race possible. We hope to see you all again next year.

Signature Pools was not long in finishing third.  The …

A Winner!

The Great Ogopogo Bathtub Race float was declared a winner in the June 6th Actionfest Parade. On August 22, be at Peach Orchard Park for a great time with the races, kid’s events, BBQ and more. Help support our Regional Hospital, which is so important to all of us.

Bigfoot is ready to race!

Built from scratch, Bigfoot is one of several of these types to be in the race. It was built from the plans on this website, with a replica lightweight tub. Next, the first run under power. Next off the assembly line is a pontoon boat for the Fun Race.

Be a part of it!

Most people will read about the race in the paper the next day. It’s a lot more fun to be in it! Entries continue to come in and we have a good slate of tubs on board and ready to go. There’s always room for more, and you will be helping build our new PRH Hospital Tower at the same …
